What to Wear

I made a helpful PDF guide to send to my clients after they book, outlining what to wear, including tips, color palettes, and examples! My photography style emphasizes natural beauty, it is very authentic, and dreamy. The experience of working with me begins before the photoshoot. I work directly with the client beforehand to capture their vision and cultivate the story they want to tell.

Outfits and colors play a big role in the final look of the photos.

Hey there,

Im Katrina!

What you wear has a big impact on the final look and feel of your photos. This quick guide will help you choose the best outfits that will help you show off your personality and tell a story!

Here are some helpful tips:

  • Avoid small prints, patterns, + stripes

Small prints, patterns, and stripes don't photograph well. They also distract from the subject and natural scenery. It's a good idea to stay away from small or intricate prints, patterns, and stripes.

  • Use accessories to tell stories

Use accessories to help tell your story and express yourself. I recommend an accessory (or a few) that make a statement and minimize other accessories. This includes hats, jewelry, sunglasses, surfboards, books & more! Adding accessories should be fun so don’t overthink it!

  • Select a vibe & color palette

What is your vision for the overall vibe of the photoshoot? Romantic, beachy, boho, or maybe it’s occasion based. What color palette speaks to you and compliments the location? Choose a few colors in a piece of clothing you like and then select your outfits based on those colors. Coordinate colors with anyone else who will be in the photograph.

  • Avoid logos

Logos can quickly date your photos and can also be a distraction. I recommend avoiding obvious logos in the outfits you choose. Of course, if it’s a piece of clothing you love, wear it!

These 4 main tips are the basics! After this, I go into color palettes and include examples. I also have a Pinterest board to help clients find their vibe and vision.
